Derrick Diggs
Derrick, a licensed hairstylist for 20 years, opened Layers Hair Salon in 2000 with the vision to provide a happy, productive and successful environment for employees and customers alike.
He has participated in the Redken International Hair Symposium in Las Vegas and Roy Peters color seminars, among others. He is a Redken Master Stylist.
Karen Radford
Karen has been a hairstylist for 40 years and joined Layers Hair Salon in 2001. She is a Redken Master Stylist and has received training in New York City and Las Vegas.
She was a Pro Design Educator and has worked in teaching salons for the last 29 years. She enjoys teaching and keeping up with current trends in the hair styling industry.
Janice Knightly
Janice has been employed with Layers Professional Hair Salon in 2000. She has over 20 years experience as a licensed stylist. She specializes in current hair styles and trends, color, waxing and short hair cuts. She enjoys seeing new clients and people interested in trying new and exciting hair trends. She enjoys continuing her education in any way that is available, including hair shows and classes.
She is proud of the atmosphere she has helped create at Layers, one that is “filled with knowledge, laughter, and a completely welcoming experience; one that they will look forward to every four to six weeks and will share with their family and friends.”
Wendy Shaban
Wendy has been a stylist for 17 years and has been employed at Layers since 2000. When she began her career, she was a Sebastian advocator and continues studying as a Redken Stylist.
She has received training from Redken, Schwarzkopf, and Roy Peters among others. She is a color expert who loves a challenge. She considers her coworkers at Layers her family and says, “We love to learn from each other.”
Stacey Palmer
Stacey was trained by Arch of Arch’s Backstage in an apprenticeship program and continued her career there for 9 years before moving to Layers in 2000. She continuously updates her education and is a Redken Master Stylist and Colorist and has received training in Schwarzkopf color. She stays updated with current trends and techniques and takes a special interest in each of her client’s individual needs, helping them to achieve their “best look”.
Kris Meador
Kris has been a stylist at Layers Professional Hair Salon since 2006 and has worked as a stylist for 10 years. She has received training at the Redken Specialist Connection and from a Red Door Educator.
She has had training in the Coppolo hair straightening system. Among her specialties are keratin straightening and updos and wedding styles.
Nancy Richardson
Nancy came to Layers Professional Hair Salon in 2009 after training and working at several high-end salons in Richmond.
She is an educator and technical advisor for Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Color and Product lines and has received training from Graham Webb, Vidal Sassoon, Nick Arrojo, Aveda, Unite and Redken.
Nancy specializes in color and color correction and precision haircutting.
Ariella Parlitsis
Ariella has been at Layers Professional Hair Salon since January of 2006 and has been a licensed stylist since May of that year.
She has participated in Redken Colorist Connection classes, as well as educational events for Redken, Unite, Schwarzkopf, Sexy Hair, Wahl, and Pureology. She specializes in updos, color, and facial waxing.
The members of the creative team at Layers Professional Hair Salon strive to fulfill the needs and each and every one of their guests, They are committed to continual growth and education and strive to incorporate the latest trends and technologies into their already strong technical foundation.
Jennifer Rennie
Jennifer joined Layers Professional Hair Salon in 2000. She has been a stylist for over 20 years. She has participated in Redken Exchange in New York City, the Redken International Hair Symposium in Las Vegas, Roy Peters and Michael Cole seminars, and is a Redken Master Stylist.
She prides herself in taking into consideration the wants and needs of each of her clients, and using current styles and new techniques for cuts and colors.
Aje Lew
Aje has been a licensed stylist since 2005. She began her career at the Aveda Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida and completed the Master's Program.
She also has extensive training in Keratin smoothing treatments for curly and unruly hair.
Aje enjoys expressing her creative spirit through cuts and color to create a unique, customized look for each of her clients.
Nicole McDaniel
Nicole joined the layers team in March of 2011 after 10 years in the industry. She is Deva Curl certified and has received training by Graham Webb, TIGI, Unite and Keratin Complex. She specializes in color and cutting curly hair. Come see Nicole for a new look or to get in touch with your inner “curl girl”.
Alvin Adkins
Alvin started with Layers in 2012. He came with 12 years experience in the salon industry. He has attend classes in Virginia and Washington, D.C. including Aveda advanced courses in color and cutting and Vidal Sassoon Precision cutting.
His specialties include long hair, precision cuts, dimensional color and highlighting. His goal is to make every client look their best whether fun or functional.
